Bristol Aggie is incredibly grateful to Dr. Murdock for his dedication in helping establish the BA Vet Science Center! His passion and expertise have helped shape an amazing program, and we wish him the best of luck in his next chapter!
With this transition, we are looking for a new leader to carry on the legacy and continue inspiring our students. If you or someone you know is passionate about teaching the next generation, we want to hear from you! #CultivatingExcellence #BAPride

Juniors in Equine Science worked to groom our horses and make grain! Pictured is one of our horses from before being groomed to after. Students in the program are responsible for the care of our animals, allowing them to learn how to do daily tasks that are necessary in the equine industry! #BAPride #CultivatingExcellence #LargeAnimal #EquineScience #Horses

Andrew Ronin from Notch Your Average Tree Care was out with Arbor Juniors today working with Ms. Parent to help teach students how to use and work off a Spider lift. Students have recently been learning about different types of Aerial lifts. This particular lift, due to its more compact size, is a game changer in the industry allowing professionals access to tighter spaces.
Students also got to practice different types of cuts removing dead material and taking down parts of the tree that span over our landscape shed building!

Yesterday, we held a more formal weekly assembly with our students and staff as a follow-up to last week's town hall on the proposed changes to the admissions lottery and how they could impact Bristol Aggie's future.
Mrs. Minster, Mr. Costa, and Mr. Braga led an important discussion, ensuring our community is informed about these regulation changes. More importantly, they encouraged our students to use their voices-to share their perspectives with the Board of Education and local legislators.
Your voice matters. Your hard work, dedication, and passion for agricultural education define what it means to be a Bristol Aggie student. This is your opportunity to advocate for what you believe in! Let's keep the conversation going! #CultivatingExcellence #BAPride #YourVoiceMatters

Juniors in Floriculture presented the floral businesses they created to their classmates, along with models of their businesses! Last week, Aggie alumni Darcey McMahon (Class of 2020) gave a demonstration to show juniors and seniors how to create a garden style bouquet with chicken wire. Happy National Agriculture Day from Bristol County Agricultural High School! #BAPride #CultivatingExcellence #Agriculture

New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NY DEC) fisheries biologist, and Bristol Aggie Natural Resources Management (NRM) alumni, Jim Pinheiro addressed the NRM and Environmental Engineering upperclassmen as part of the Bristol Aggie Environmental Conservation Department Professional Speaker Series. Each month a professional from a different field presents to the students about their jobs. The fun stuff and not-so-fun stuff are covered. Professionals tell of the varied, often winding, career paths and offer tips for aspiring conservation scientists and environmental managers.
Jim described the many adventures he has had tracking and managing freshwater fish in Upstate New York and the meetings, phone calls, budgets, and spreadsheets that also make up a typical work week for him. He also explained his own journey from Bristol Aggie to the NY DEC.

Workplace Wednesday!
Our junior Co-op student highlight this week is Mason Tavares! Mason Tavares is a junior Co-op student who works at Anchor Animal Hospital located in North Dartmouth. He works as a veterinary technician assistant where he completes tasks such as restraining animals, administering vaccines, and any other tasks the veterinary technician would need assistance with. Mason favors being able to help hurting and sick animals get on the road to recovery. He feels as if this co-op position benefits him because it gives him a more in-depth experience in the veterinary field that solidifies him wanting to become a vet one day. We’d like to thank Anchor Animal Hospital for supplying our students with the opportunity to get real-world experience in a veterinary hospital.
Our senior Co-op student highlight this week is Aaron Medeiros! Aaron Medeiros is a senior Co-op student working at JM Pet Resort and Clinic in Brockton working as a Kennel Lead. Ms. Sharp’s Junior Equine Science class took advantage of the 60 degree weather yesterday to soak up some sunshine on horseback!

The American chestnut tree, which was a vital part of the Northeast American tree canopy for hundreds of years, is now considered functionally extinct due to chestnut blight. Throughout the school year, seniors in the Environmental Conservation Department have been studying these trees. Last week, they received 128 chestnut seeds with various genetic strains, representing hybrids of the American and Chinese chestnut. At the end of the school year, Environmental Engineering students will plant these trees at the Somerset Sportsman's Club and on our campus. The goal of this project is to help restore the American chestnut population. A huge thank you to the American Chestnut Foundation and the Somerset Sportsman's Club for your collaboration on this project. #BAPride #CultivatingExcellence #EnvironmentalEngineering #NaturalResourceManagement #Conservation #AmericanChestnut

Juniors in Livestock and Dairy Management practiced giving subcutaneous and intramuscular vaccines on balloons filled with flour! The rubber on the balloon simulates animal skin, allowing students to practice how to position their hands before giving vaccines to live animals. #BAPride #CultivatingExcellence #LargeAnimal #Livestock
