Behind the scenes in our Confiscation Lab! Our students work hard to keep all of our animals healthy. Pictured are seniors in Natural Resource Management weighing and measuring our turtles, checking PIT tag numbers, and preparing diets. This lab is part of a partnership with the US Fish and Wildlife Service, various state wildlife agencies, the Aquarium and Zoo Association, and conservation law enforcement to disrupt poaching for the illegal pet trade and save wildlife. #BAPride #CultivatingExcellence #Wildlife #Nature #Turtles
It's a busy week in Agricultural Mechanics! Our juniors and seniors are working on tractors, fire pits for Fall Show, and cornhole boards. Our students are also continuing a large project that has been ongoing for multiple years. Our students have been working with Mr. Barry Griffin, Sharing the Harvest Farm in Dartmouth, and Teal Farm in Rochester to make better machines for small farms. The machine they're working on now is a small electric diesel hybrid tractor. It is the third version of this machine, and we hope to be able to feature it at this year's Fall Show. #BAPride #CultivatingExellence
On Wednesday, September 25, we had the pleasure of holding a Tour des Trees event on our campus. Arboriculture teacher Ms. Parent tells us that it was an incredible experience to host leading industry professionals as they took a break on their 400+ mile bike ride across the northeast. This annual event is hosted in a different location each year, so it was an honor to be a stop on their journey this year.
Additionally, we celebrated the planting of the Kentucky Coffeetree donated by the TREE Fund, where students and riders came together to discuss their experiences within the industry.
Our junior Arbor students had the unique opportunity to engage with these professionals, gaining invaluable career advice and making connections with experts from around the world. This interaction has undoubtedly inspired and motivated our students.
For those unfamiliar, the TREE Fund is an organization dedicated to supporting budding arborists in our industry. They offer scholarships and grants to help students and professionals further their education and research in arboriculture.
