Like last year, we aim to provide an opportunity for our grade 9 students to practice real-world business communication skills and an activity that incorporates the tech. & career skills they have been learning and implementing throughout the year in class.
The fair provides an opportunity for students to have brief guided conversations and Q&A with employers to obtain experience with communicating face-to-face in a professional manner without the real-world consequences of such an interchange. This authentic low-stakes way to practice communication and “soft skills” will help students gain the confidence they need to mix and mingle with employers at a real career fair.
At our “Mock Job Fair,” we plan to host professionals representing a variety of businesses, industries, and other organizations that are connected with our programs of study and also can help students better understand their futures in the world of work. Exhibitors will get the chance to speak to students about their organizations, the products and/or services they provide, and what potential employees can expect from working in their field.
