Bristol County Agricultural High School's Work Based Learning Program

The Bristol County Agricultural Work Based Learning (WBL) Program consists of 3 opportunities for students to learn real-world skills in industry while being supervised throughout the experience.

Please choose below from the the three types of Work Based Learning programs:  Co-Op, Internship, and Job Shadows.

Interested students should read the student packet of information (Student Paperwork) and try to locate a site prior to contacting Mrs. Ashley Fullen, the Vocational Coordinator, to review the application packet and eligibility for the program. To reach Mrs. Fullen please either: Email afullen@bcahs.com or Schedule an Office Appointment using the link.

Students must meet and maintain standards that are available for review in the Student Handbook. To summarize briefly, to be eligible for Co-Op, the applying student must have a cumulative average of at least 70 in academic classes and 70 in vocational major and related classes. Participation in the cooperative education program will not be granted to any student who has any of the following: accumulated 50 behavioral referrals during the current school year, absences in excess of 10 days (other than a medically excused absence), been tardy on more than 8 occasions, or has been suspended. Students must complete vocational cooperative education application paperwork which must be reviewed with the placement coordinator prior to the start of the program.

All instructors and the supervising Department Head shall approve participation in the Co-Op program and each instructor shall report to the placement coordinator any change in the student’s eligibility. Vocational cooperative education dismissal time shall be from vocational periods only. Attendance at school is required each day a student plans to work at his or her Co-Op site. Students may be required to stay in school for certain programs at the discretion of the vocational instructor. Twenty-four hour student health insurance shall be verified BY THE PARENT/GUARDIAN in addition to the required insurance coverage of the Employer.

All work sites must carry workmen’s compensation insurance. The school administration reserves the right to cancel or alter the vocational cooperative education program for any student. Students who participate in Project Intern or job shadowing activities must meet the same requirements as vocational cooperative education students.
